Originally the site of an old-style ‘taipa’ homestead typical of the region, the villa has since been renovated and extensively modernised into a property that has maintained its traditional feel but welcomes its guests comfortably and generously. 

Modern-day Monte Pegazul features a very spacious open-plan living/dining room and kitchen, with high ceilings and exposed rafters allowing for a feeling of space and light to flow through the house. There are 5 bedrooms in total (3 doubles and 2 twins) three of which are ensuite and one of the twins can be converted into an extra double bedroom.

Keeping the villa cosy during the colder times of the year, there is a wood-burning stove in the main living area and central heating with radiators in every room. 

Just outside the living room is a covered terrace, set out for enjoying long lazy days relaxing with your favourite people. This includes a BBQ area, plus dining and lounging spaces. The large swimming pool enjoys sun exposure all day long and sits to one side of the property with gated access, whilst generous fenced-in grounds all around make it safe for kids to run around freely. There is also a citrus orchard to one side, where you can pick your lemons directly for cocktail hour.

Positioned on a hillside, Monte Pegazul benefits from lovely rural views across the valley below - here you are encouraged to retreat, unwind, and relax in your peaceful surroundings. Songbirds abound in the region and are a joy to listen to, making the location perfect for some switch-off time, but a real spectacle awaits you when the sun starts to drop: the Alentejo’s golden sunsets are legendary as are the star-studded night skies!

The Costa Vicentina features some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal much loved by surfers, as well as many kms of scenic trails to explore, winding through the natural park. You can find out more about these trails here (https://rotavicentina.com/en/). 

The fishing village of Zambujeira do Mar with its dramatic cliff-top position is just a short drive away. Also located nearby is Odemira (an old town of Moorish Heritage) and the charming village of São Teotónio which offers several restaurants, a petrol station, supermarkets, and a municipal fish, veg and meat market.

Warning Notes: Access to the property is via a short unpaved road (600 metres).

  • Entrance hall & guest WC. Open-plan living/dining room and kitchen. Covered terrace set out for outdoor living (BBQ area, plus dining and lounging spaces)
  • The West Wing: Double bedroom suite (bed size 180x200 cms) with shower bathroom. Twin bedroom suite (2 beds of 90x200 cms) with shower bathroom.
  • The East Wing: Double bedroom (bed size 180x200 cms) & twin/double bedroom (2 beds of 90x200 cms) sharing a shower bathroom. Double bedroom suite (180x200 cms) with shower bathroom.

 

  • Bed linen and bathroom towels supplied and changed once a week
  • On request, the East Wing twin/double bedroom can be made out as either 2 singles (2 beds of 90x200 cms) or a double bed (180x200 cms); all the bedrooms have wooden shutters to block the light
  • The bathrooms have rain showers as well as a handheld shower; towel heaters & hair dryers are also provided
  • Cot & highchair on request
  • Mosquitos are not an issue in the region, nevertheless anti-mosquito plug-in gadgets are supplied as well as citronella candles for the terraces
  • Central heating (pellets) and logs for the wood-burning stove are provided for winter rentals
  • Wall mounted flat-screen TV in the living room (cable channels & streaming services such as Netflix)
  • WIFI is available throughout
  • There are some table games & reading books at the property which guests are welcome to enjoy
  • The kitchen features a cooking island with induction hob; other equipment includes an electric oven, microwave, large American style fridge, dishwasher, toaster, as well as smaller appliances for baking, blending or to barbeque; there is also a pantry just off the kitchen for storing extra provisions
  • Laundry room with washing machine & outdoor drying area
  • Gated access to a large swimming pool (15x7 metres & 1,20-1,80 metres deep) with roman steps & ladder; poolside shower/changing room/WC; pool furniture & pool towels provided 1 p/guest p/week
  • Shaded carport for several cars

2024 RENTAL PRICES IN EUROS

July & August:  €800 p/night

May, June & September: €600 p/night

Other Periods: €400 p/night (heating is an extra cost)

BOOKING & CANCELLATION TERMS

  • Minimum 7 nights stay with Saturday change-overs in July & August; more flexible rest of the year
  • Check-in after 16:00 hours & check-out before 10:00 hours
  • No parties for more than full capacity & strictly no smoking indoors (penalty equal to security deposit)
  • Pets on request
  • Extra services are subject to availability and should be booked well in advance especially in high season; no credit cards accepted locally, only cash
  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
  • Security deposit of €1,000 to be paid in advance of rental - this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
