Set amid a peaceful and beautiful Alentejo landscape, charming Monte do Lameirão is available for year round rentals with two different options available: full house rental for family holidays or a garden studio for a couple, but always with exclusive use of the pool and grounds.

This modern architect-designed country house has quirky and colourful interiors with shelves full of reading material to borrow during your stay, and an eclectic collection of art and vintage objects to amuse you. Yet the accommodation offered is both practical and cosy. Some of the bedrooms are accessed through the “pomegranate” courtyard and children will particularly love sharing the triple bunk bedroom.  Whilst the living room, kitchen and dining room curl around and open onto a shaded terrace for dining and relaxing outdoors and enjoying Portugal’s wonderful climate. A separate garden studio would give a couple a bit more privacy, and is  also available to rent on its own outside the high season.

The property is equipped with a wood burner in the living room and is fitted with air conditioning/central heating throughout. There is also a smart TV, DVD player, music system, iPod/iPhone deck, as well as a range of table games and a piano. Outdoors, there is a slide, swings and a selection of bikes and yoga mats for guests’ enjoyment, plus a domestic charger for electric cars.

Monte do Lameirão is surrounded by natural Mediterranean grounds featuring a fenced-in swimming pool with a lawn area and shaded pergola.  There is plenty of space for kids to run around the 1 hectare grounds, and a large table under an old cork tree is perfect for setting out poolside refreshments in the heat of the day. The property enjoys wonderful views over gently undulated countryside typical of the region, but the real spectacle awaits you when the sun starts to drop – the Alentejo’s golden sunsets are legendary as are the star-studded night skies.

The great Alqueva dam is located nearby and offers a range of watersports, whilst the castle villages of Alandroal and Monsaraz have some great eateries where to sample the local gastronomy. At Reguengos de Monsaraz you can buy beautiful handmade woven textiles at the Fabrica Alentejana de Lanificios. Not to be missed either is a visit to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Evora, its Roman Temple, the beautiful University Cloisters and the Chapel of Bones.

WARNING NOTES: This property has a pet cat who lives outdoors but may visit you during your stay. There are also 3 dogs that live in a kennel at the bottom of the field. All are very friendly.

  • In July & August, a minimum rental of 7-nights applies with flexible change-overs (House only or House + Studio)
  • During other periods, a minimum rental of 4 nights applies for House rentals and 2-nights for Studio rentals, with flexible change-overs. When renting either these units separately, you are guaranteed the exclusive use of pool and grounds
  • Check-in after 16:00 hours & check-out before 10:00 hours
  • No parties for more than full capacity, not pets & strictly no smoking indoors (penalty equal to security deposit)
  • Extra services are subject to availability and should be booked well in advance especially in high season; no credit cards accepted locally, only cash
  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
  • Security deposit of €2,500 to be paid in advance of rental – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
