This quiet rural retreat is ideally located for exploring the wonders of the Alentejo province as well as offering activities such as horse riding, yoga, cooking lessons and regional wine tasting.

Quinta das Bolotas is  a place where serenity reigns, somewhere where you can inhale pure oxygen, and relax! Taking its name from the acorns that grow on the estate, this quintessentially Portuguese Quinta (country house) is surrounded by 87 hectares of unspoilt countryside planted with cork trees and holm oaks. The property is particularly suited for group getaways looking for a peaceful rural location yet with plenty to do on offer; from horse riding to yoga, cooking classes to regional wine tasting.

The luxurious accommodation of the main Quinta building spreads over 2 levels and offers 5 double/twin bedroom suites all with private bathrooms; whilst the master bedroom on the top floor enjoys landscape views of the surrounding countryside. Across the courtyard is a more modest double suite and a recently converted workers cottage with a double bedroom as well as bunk beds, just perfect to accommodate a couple with young children or teenagers wanting some independence.

A 100 sq square meters living room has a wide screen TV and card table, and the 50 sq metres dining room can sit up to 16 guests around the table or cater for special events of up to 30 people. Both the living and dining rooms open onto covered terraces for outdoor dining and to the pool area, whilst the kitchen offers a fantastic space for a group Alentejo gastronomy lesson, should you be interested.

Available for year-round rentals, the staff supervise the property, serve breakfast and can prepare other simple meals. Alternatively, you can book a regional chef to try some of the local gastronomy, as well as choose wines from Quinta’s private cellar!

The crisp and clear winter days are perfect for discovering the Alentejo province and all it has to offer, with roaring fires beckoning you back once the sun goes down; whereas, in the summer heat, you’ll be taking refuge by the swimming pool during the day and enjoying outdoor meals in the evening. The Alto Alentejo where Quinta das Bolotas is located, boasts two UNESCO Heritage Sites (Elvas and Évora), several castles and local markets, and many vineyards within close proximity where an educational wine tasting visit is a must; as well as being close to the Spanish border.

WARNING NOTES: There are horses and other farm animals including dogs and cats at the property, whilst guests pets are also welcome (on request). Children under 5 years of age need to be supervised and are only accepted with a signed disclaimer.

  • Double bedroom (bed size 180×200 cms) and bunk bedroom sharing a full bathroom, kitchenette (with washing machine) and living area
 
  • Bedroom & bathroom linen changed between each short rental; or once a week for longer rentals
  • All the bedrooms in the main house have orthopaedic beds & down duvets; no extra beds are provided

  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental
  • Security deposit of €1,500 to be paid in advance of rental;  in exceptional cases & when pre-arranged, the security deposit can be paid at the property – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
