"This peaceful retreat, complete with a heated pool, yoga cabin, table tennis and beach volley, offers families or friends a true escape in a tranquil rural setting near Praia dos Bejos."
With a sunny disposition and great outdoor areas to chill out, this supper spacious and luxurious property is the perfect place to enjoy some Comporta bliss. Wake to the sound of songbirds and the ocean nearby, then spend the day enjoying all the amenities on offer. As the evening falls, head to the rooftop terrace for a sundowner and soak up the calm of your surroundings!
Casa do Elefante has been built for relaxed living and features 5 en-suite bedrooms (with air-conditioning on request), spread over several modern thatched cabanas totalling 500 sq metres of living space. The cabanas have exposed wood and bamboo ceilings, polished cement floors and large panoramic windows, and each opens onto its own private terrace. The interiors are decorated in a soft and warm palette of colours with a beach chic vibe. There are flood-lit wooden pathways connecting all the cabanas within fenced-in grounds totalling 7,500 square metres.
With so much space on offer, there are plenty of options for large families or friends to be together, or for escaping to read a book and relax if you need some private time. At the centre of the property, the long lap swimming pool (heated and fenced-in on request) and gazebo are surrounded by a decked terrace. You can enjoy a game of table-tennis under the shade of pine trees or play beach volley, whilst a yoga cabin and an outdoor deck provide a special spot for some mindfulness practice.
The Comporta region’s selling point is its simplicity despite some high-profile A-list visitors. It sits within the Sado River Nature Reserve and you can do some dolphin watching, cycle between rice paddies and pine forests, learn to surf, or go horse riding on the dunes. The local fishermen still mend their nets on the beach and storks make their nests in just about every pole in the area. There is no in-your-face nightlife, and it has an unpretentious vibe with just a hand full of trendy restaurants and hippy-chic shops. Comporta, Carvalhal, and Pego beaches all host fun beach bars/restaurants.
Closer to the property, off-grid Brejos beach is a local secret and can be reached by a short drive or cycle, crossing paddy fields and wild dunes – this pristine stretch of sand remains rarely visited all year, and with no restaurant or bar, it’s perfect for family picnics. It also enjoys views towards the “Serra da Arrabida” nature reserve in the distance.
