Waterfront Casa dos Flamingos enjoys panoramic views over Mediterranean gardens all the way down to the quiet waters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park in the Eastern Algarve, where fisherman moor their colourful boats and flamingos are often seen feeding.

This beautiful property comprises two semi-detached houses each with its own private terrace, garden, and heated pool, so the accommodation on offer is perfect for large get-togethers or 2 families wanting to holiday together but retain some independence. Totalling 500 sq metres, the spacious interiors are elegant yet intimate with masses of light pouring in. Each wing sleeps 6 guests and all the bedrooms have outstanding sea views. Outside the high season, the two villas can be rented separately (on request).

Casa dos Flamingos is suitable for rentals from March to December and offers a full team of staff who discreetly looks after guests’ every need: this includes a housekeeper and in-house chef (resident at the property) to cater for breakfast and dinner (cost of groceries charged extra) as well as a gardener/boatman.

The Algarve boasts an average of 300 days of sunshine a year and the Ria Formosa Natural Park stretches along 60 km of its coast. Protected from the open ocean by barrier-islands and peninsulas, the tidal flats are a sanctuary for more than 200 species of birds. The region is also well known for its wines, oysters, and delicious fresh fish.

The property is set in approximately 4 hectares planted with olive and fig trees, umbrella pines, prickly pear, lavender, and rosemary, the land gently sloping down to the sea. Charming grounds invite you to read a book under a shady tree, splash around in the pool and watch the birdlife on the lagoon just below. Alternatively, if you’re feeling energetic, there are waterside running and cycling trails and from the pier, you can try some stand-up paddling or take the villa’s private boat to one of the secluded beaches on the Ria Formosa.

This idyllic and serene setting is located only a 20-minute drive away from Faro International Airport.  You can cycle to the picturesque fisherman’s village of Santa Luzia and the charming old town of Tavira is a short drive away.

WARNING NOTES: Young children need to be supervised as there are unprotected drops from exterior terraces, swimming pool and stairs; plus, the land surrounding the property has all the normal hazards of a working farm (wells, tractors, machinery & fences).

  • Wi-Fi is available throughout, but mobile connection is intermittent as the villa sits on a low-density area

  • There are two heated swimming pools: West Wing (size 6x4m & depth 1m), East Wing (6×4 & depth 1,5m to 1,8m); poolside shade & shower, plus sun loungers available; pool towels x 1 p/guest p/week provided, pool heating included

  • Watersports deck with 2 stand-up paddle-boards & 3 kayaks for guests’ enjoyment(at own risk)
  • Outdoor parking area (under the pine trees) with domestic plug-in for Ecars

  • In July & August the property is only available for exclusive use rentals of both properties together for up to 12 guests; 6 guests renting either the West or East Wing is possible during other periods; minimum 7 nights rentals with Saturday change overs apply 
  • Check-in after 16:00 hours & check-out before 10:00 hours
  • No parties for more than full capacity, no pets & strictly no smoking indoors (penalty equal to security deposit)
  • Extra services are subject to availability and should be booked well in advance especially in high season; credit cards accepted locally
  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
  • Security deposit of 20% to be paid in advance of rental – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
