Casa da Infanta is particularly suitable for large family holidays, golfing or corporate groups. With 180º views and several terraces surrounding this beach villa, outdoor meals or sundowners don’t get much better than this! The views are of fishing boats passing in front of the house and yachts making their way to and from the marinas, with the well-known Algarve resort of Praia da Rocha across the wide estuary; whilst the rear looks onto the Monchique mountain range.

The name of the property translates into English as the “House of the Princess” and remains in the ownership of the Portuguese Royal family today. Since the Princess’s days, the villa has been updated to modern standards with most of the bedrooms fitted with air-conditioning, yet retaining many of the original features, including the antique beds with the family coat of arms.

It has a total of 9 bedrooms including a triple room for children; spread over three floors, with a lift servicing each of the 3 levels.

Casa da Infanta is the larger of 2 holiday villas that can be rented independently or together on the same estate – the other is Casa da Praia for 6+2 guests. Each is secluded by pinewoods and has a private pool (which can be heated), as well as direct beach access.

You can also walk along the beach to the charming waterside village of Ferragudo, a gem of the Algarve coast, hosting a number of quayside fresh fish and seafood restaurants.

WARNING NOTES: There are some unprotected drops from various terraces and around the swimming pool – young children need to be supervised.

  • Bed linen & bathroom towels are included in the rental & changed mid-week as well as at the end-of-week for longer stays
  • Cots (w/linen) & high chairs (2 of each) on request, free of charge
  • All the bathrooms have rain showers (as well a bath in some cases); hair dryers provided
  • Air-conditioning fitted in all the bedrooms (except the room at pool level); the property also enjoys the benefit of cooling winds from the sea and the housekeeper adjusts the property’s shutters during the day to avoid direct sunlight, keeping the interior cool

  • The housekeeper’s primary job is to clean the house & ensure the washing of the household linen on weekdays only (09:30 – 16:30 hours) with bedrooms, bathrooms & public areas cleaned once a day; washing of guest’s personal clothes or dishwashing is not included  
  • A resident groundsman is also in charge of pool & garden maintenance which takes place weekdays (09:30 – 14:00 hours) with swimming pool & terraces cleaned a bit earlier (07:00 – 08:00 hours), although every effort is made not to disturb guests
  • Basic welcome hamper supplied on arrival (drinking water, wine, beers, juice/soft drinks, milk, coffee, tea, bread, butter, honey, sweet & savoury biscuits, sugar, salt & pepper, local cheese, olives, seasonal fruit, guest soaps & lavatory paper, essential cleaning products such as washing up liquid, dishwasher & washing machine detergents, spare electrical bulbs, candles & matches, mosquito repellent, charcoal for barbeque use)

  • Pool heating w/cover @ €300 p/week for approx 10 hours a day, paid in advance

  • Beach: a gentle slope and walk from the estate grounds will take you to sandy Praia Grande, approx. 300 metres
  • Ferragudo (nearest shops & restaurants): 1 km drive or walk along the beach past Forte S João
  • Golf Courses: within a 15-20 minute drive you can reach Alamos, Alto Golf, Penina, Gramacho, Morgado do Reguengo, Vale da Pinta & Vale do Milho courses

  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
  • Security deposit of €1,500 to be paid in advance of rental – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday

"Amazing holiday! The villa was superb: clean, quirky and spacious. The location overlooking the harbour was magnificent. The kids played on the beach and rock pools. There were great restaurants only a 10/15 min walk away on either side of the cliff. The staff were excellent and the housekeeper cooked supper for us one night, which was great. Ferragudo remains a cute little village, with a scattering of nice fish restaurants. We are seriously considering returning next year.”

Our only comment would be that some of the beds are not very comfortable - hard mattress on a solid chipboard base, not to same high-quality standard as the rest of the house, otherwise all perfect."
