Ideal for short or long stays, this quintessential Portuguese manor stands next to a medieval castle, enjoying rooftop views of the surrounding town.

In the same family since the 18th century, the Manor House has recently been remodelled into a rental holiday home for up to 12 guests (plus 6 extra on request, in an adjacent cottage) and offers traditional Portuguese hospitality blended with 21st century comforts, located between Comporta and Vila Nova de Milfontes, 15 minutes away from the pristine beaches of the stunning Alentejo west coast. For larger parties there is the possibility of adding on an adjacent cottages or some extra bedrooms.

The property has resident staff and breakfast daily is included in the rental, with optional cook service at an extra cost.

Original period features such as flagstones, wood-panelled floors and ceilings, fireplaces and painted walls still adorn many the rooms of the Manor House. The drawing and sitting rooms, the music/TV room and library, all provide a range of different zones for all the family to relax whilst also being together. The main accommodation is spread over 3 levels and features 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, whilst an extra garden studio (originally a bread oven) has an en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette. 

The charming walled grounds includes two separate areas separated by a typical Alentejo patio with cobblestones: a formal topiary garden looks down towards the town, and a Mediterranean garden planted with fruit trees enjoys lovely views towards the church and the castle of Santiago de Cacém. Set within the Mediterranean garden, the plunge pool has built-in-seating for cooling off in the summer heat and can be heated in the cooler months. There is also a shaded pergola for dining outdoors and the former dovecot has been converted into a pool house and barbeque area.

WARNING NOTES: There are some unprotected drops from various terraces and around the plunge pool – young children need to be supervised.

  • Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
  • Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental
  • Security deposit of €1,000 to be paid in advance of rental (to be held by the booking agent); in exceptional cases & when pre-arranged, the security deposit can be paid at the property – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
